Week 6 down - 34 to go.

First things first, it's SO great to have shared our little secret with everyone! We weren't sure how everyone would respond to our news, but overall, everyone seemed just as excited as us (if not more excited, eh hem, Sarah). It's just so weird how a pregnancy can bring families together. We get calls from someone at least daily and... interruption, there's another call as I'm writing this.

To get on to the details of this week, it was rather uneventful. I have a PT test in a week from Monday that determines whether or not I get to go on a short deployment this fall. So my thoughts have been distracted - up until Wednesday. On Wednesday I was at home (I have Bronchitis and was sent home for the rest of the week) when I got a call from Christina. She was in tears balling about something and having to go to the ER. I said "Ok" and hung up. Wait a minute - why are we going to the E.R. and why was my wife crying? Confused, and kinda lost, I just tossed on clothes and waited outside. It scared me that I had no idea what was going on. So I did what any logical son does - I called mom. When she answered I didn't know what to tell her. Fortunately, Christina was pulling up at the moment mom answered. Without going through many details, Christina had an immediate problem that needed to be looked at over at the hosiptal's "Same Day Emergency Room" portion of the OBGYN. After 3 hours of uneasy waiting, the nurse staff - who were awesome working with us - reviewed the blood test results and UA and turns out that everything was ok. So for additional confidence they had a doctor administer one of those sonicgrams - I always forget what they're called - that you can see the baby. So a doctor came in and showed us the picture that you can see above on Christina's post. We weren't supposed to get one done until week 20 (Army policy) but they wanted to prove to us that everything is going well and Baby is healthy. We saw the heart beating and were told that our guess of 6 weeks was almost exact. Now, we don't know the sex yet, of course, but we DO know that there's only ONE Babyreif in there. So maybe twins on the second time around? =).

According to some email Christina gets, this week her hormones are in full fledge bonkers and her mood swings are off the wall. So, feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I'll forward them on to her during a good mood. HAHA jk! She's always an angel. Besides our scare and our great picture (ok,ok so I teared up a little bit when I saw the baby picture), not too much went on this past week. We're just so glad now that our families know so that if/when we approach something we don't know, we have a GREAT support system to help us through everything.

Special thanks to Aunt Dawn and our moms for helping us with miscellaneous "we don't know how to handle it" situations!

  1. Haha, yes I am pretty excited! Also, a "sonicgram"? I'm no OB/GYN, but I think it's "sonogram". :P
