We're Pregnant!!

After only a few short months of trying, we are finally pregnant! Today, we are six weeks into our pregnancy and we're getting ready to share the news with our family and friends back home.

My sister, Kelly, was visiting us two weeks ago, and suggested we pick up a test while we were at the store. On the way home, we secretly debated whether I should take the test that afternoon, or wait until the next morning, when they're supposedly more accurate. Matt wasn't aware that I had bought yet another box of tests, and was curious what we were whispering about. If you know me at all, you know that I took that test the first chance I had, when I had gone to take a shower to get ready for the luau we were going to that night. The test was clearly positive, and I was so excited that I cut myself 4 times while shaving my legs. My hands wouldn't stop shaking and I was laughing and crying a little to myself, trying to figure out how to tell Matt.

The couple of hours before the luau were torture. It was so hard not to run down stairs right then and tell him he would be a dad in February. Somehow I managed to keep it quiet, and told him on the beach before the luau started. I pulled him off to the side, put his hand on my belly, and told him that his son or daughter was in there right now. I don't know if he believed me at first (I tend to get excited over the smallest signs!) but it only took a little while for him to start smiling like a fool. He was just as happy as I was!

I've been to the doctors, where they confirmed that we are, in fact, pregnant! Our first OB appointment is in a month, and I'm guessing the due date is around February 20, 2010. It seems so far away!

Even though it is still early, I am already experiencing all of the not-so-fun pregnancy symptoms.. My bedtime is now somewhere around 9pm every night, regardless of where I am (even at the movies!). I'm hungry all the time, but I haven't had any specific food cravings. And of course, I'm sick to my stomach every day it seems. But I'm loving every minute of it and I can't wait to be a mommy!
